What we are supposed to be doing at Chess.com

I also agree but theres no harm in some off topic discussions if they have some relevence and taste, once they dont become the focal point of activity i welcome them. If i go to my local chess club, i can play chess and talk about other things besides chess too, so why not the same here on chess.com. However i do think that the articles section could become a little more active.

I just don't really get ur comlaint though, because there are a lot of chess-topics I just noticed (*yes'I'm new here as well), so why bother about *the few people that don't*. You can see the conconformists everywhere even at chess-society:D
I play lots of chess here... 400 odd games in about 4 months, however, I still have lots of "hang time" between chess moves. I amuse myself by trawling the forums, but if I come across a forum topic I don't like, I simply move on. Whining about what you personally don't like, cuts no ice with me, or many others I suspect. If you don't like something then change the page... easy! Freedom of speech and democracy allow the rest of us to discuss almost whatever we damn well please! 
You choose to make it your home. You can't expect close to 100,000 members to focus on personalizing the site to fit your particular tastes

I really don't understand the problem...if you want to play chess, then play chess! Would it enhance your experience to deny others the opportunity to discuss whatever they want? If you don't like "off-topic" forums then don't read them... don't give it the big "cry baby" because others discuss thing you don't appreciate. What's the matter with you?
I have to agree with Ray 100% and is Chess.com not already the #1 chess site.

Just because you have no interest outside of chess, it does not mean that everyone else must feel the same way. If someone has forced you to read forums that are clearly labeled "off-topic", then I understand your complaint, and your assailant should be punishable to the full extent of the law. I doubt that it the circumstance, and I wish you would just get back to your dearly beloved game.

Mate if u dont like what they write dont worry about it ok i know i dont care to much i read what i like and egnore the others its that simple this site should be about people comming together to enjoy not only the great game of chess but getting know each other too and that means topics other then chess too so just have fun and dont take things so seriously ok....

Chess professionals arent rated under 1800 fide and I will play you when you get your rating here over 2000. I am very picky about who I play. In any event playing me, even if you did win, wouldnt prove you are a chess professional.

I hate talking about chess generally, but love talking about stuff other than chess. Love playing chess though!!
What I've been noticing is some people join just to put up pictures or chat to other people. I've only been here for 2 days and a few hours but I think people need to get back to the real reason this site was most likely made for: Having fun playing chess while learning new things about chess. some people just don't seem to get it, this website is about chess. Not making pictures for show or talking about wierd things like: Who is the most beautifulest person. Chess is the whole point of the website, to learn new chess strategies and get your rating high, plus have fun playing chess games and encourage people to get into chess more. What do you think?
