Last night, you were abducted by aliens. They've shapeshifted into various chess GMs so you won't be frightened by their true forms, and tell you that they need you to choose your fate, or they'll have you thrown out the airlock.

Alien-Magnus makes you an offer. If you win your next bullet game, you gain all the chess skills, knowledge and experience of real-Magnus, immediately with no effort. But if you lose, you take a bullet to each kneecap, so severely that you'll never walk again.

Alien-Hikaru offers an alternative. If you win your next blitz game, real-Hikaru will personally coach you for as long and as often as you like until you're as good as he is. But if you lose, all your skills will vanish and your Elo will be 200 permanently, with no hope ever to improve.

Alien-Finegold has a third suggestion. If you win your next rapid game, you get 20 million dollars, or equivalent in your currency. But if you lose, Ben will analyse your game, conclude that your play was "just terrible", and then eat you live on stream and make that NOM sound while he does it.

And for the sneaky people out there, option 4... Access/control of the airlock can only be obtained by solving an expert rated chess puzzle in under 30 seconds. If you don't solve it correctly in time, the entire game of chess will be wiped from existence, memory and history forever, and since the aliens can no longer remember why they abducted you, they just let you go home.

I know it's sacrilege but I think I'd go with Alien-Hikaru- no potential for physical harm and I actually like the reward he's offering the best. I'd just choke in a high stakes bullet game, and rapid is my strongest area but I'd rather jump out the airlock myself than risk getting NOMmed. I wish I was enough of an absolute sociopath to go with the puzzle because that totally lets you off the hook personally

My wife would love option 4. She complains I play too much chess.

Option 1 or 3. I win either way

Option 2 doesn't sound bad, I am kinda used to blitz but like, the reward ain't as juicy
