This is a great thread to tell my Woody Herman joke that I think is HILLARIOUSLaughing  Back in the 1940's, Woody's band was booked to play at a nightclub in N.Y. During the day, the club is closed, so the band was rehearsing. Woody was in the back trying to figure out how his band sounded. He's sitting with a couple of guys drinking and playing cards. They started to create a ruckus and the nightclub manager walked in. The manager said, "you guys are disturbing the band, your gonna have to leave".Yell  Woody just said, "Ok", and left. Later that night when the show was over, Woody walked in to get paid. The manager said, "Oh YOU AGAIN? Didn't I throw you out earlier"?  Woody said, "Yeah, you did....but that's my bandSurprised and I want to get paid". Cool

Wouldn't it depend on what style music?

I'm not real sure Luv. I don't know much about instruments. I know know the trumpet is a brass and a sax is a woodwind, I think.

I believe the two are often associated with jazz, classical, and I want to say blues. But not sure if trumpet is used for blues

I was also thinking that trumpet is often used in ska and reggae
