I'd go with Black Sabbath because I like their music & they're one of the most original metal bands.

A recognizable part of Deep Purple Alice was borrowed as the dungeon theme for The Legend of Zelda (1986). I heard that fragment of music thousands of times as a child not knowing what it was.

Picking the original heavy metal band is tricky. Some say Black Sabbath, others go back to Led Zeppelin or even earlier. I was checking out some Newspaper Archive reviews the other day and found old articles about early rock shows. It’s wild to see how people talked about these bands back then compared to now!
