<<They simply can't think as fast as the young people they resent and unfortunately they are the ones that make the rules. To bluntly answer the subject of this thread.>>
I agree with that completely btw. Rigidity of thought also slows down thinking. I'm an exception but it's a fairly general rule. Although I can't think as fast as I used to, I can still think very fast and accurately. I'm just lucky that way. ![]()
Why are over-the-board time controls so long??
<<So now you call it a higher standard instead of higher quality.>>
The fact that you think there's a difference shows that you're mad.
Goodnight, it's getting late here and I have some work to do. Enjoy your evening.
Just as much as there is a difference between accurate and quality.
Saying something is a standard is the same as saying it is the most popular and common or correct. Which again is displaying your negative connotations towards blitz, and again nothing to do with quality. It could even be said something is of a poor quality standard which is a frequently used phrase.
See how I address your points, and retort them with my own points instead of doing nothing but denying them or hurling personal insults. You should try it, because regardless of what you think. You are the loud minority and most of the world including the professional chess players themselves are cringing at you.
And again, just the statistics of the very website you are commenting on prove that I am the opinion of the silent majority.
You have a bit of a comprehension problem there.
You address my points by showing very little understanding of what words mean, very often.
Is that a personal insult or, more likely, an accurate statement of fact? You should learn to tell the difference.
Chess isn’t exactly a spectator sport like football or MMA.
It absolutely is. And as HIkaru rightly pointed out, especially in Russia and India. Right now Poland is very proud of the spectators at the world rapid and blitz which Hikaru also noticed and mentioned to their pleasure. Again, the only reason its not as popular as other sports, is because classical is boring, and because of people like you who wish it not to be for your superiority complex.
False. You have to be able to play chess to understand it. You don’t have to do MMA to understand MMA.

People insult others because of their own insecurities. Perhaps he needs a place to vent his anger.
So now you call it a higher standard instead of higher quality. Which implies the myth we always hear from the chess community that blitz is not real chess. One of the major reasons why chess is not as popular as other major sports is because most of the chess community themselves are not very sporting at all. Just the fact you don't think how competitive these matches are, or how the match comes off to spectators, is related to the quality of the sport simply confirms this.
Similiar how you don't factor in the added strategies, tactics and skill factors added with blitz, Watching a game today when Alireza flagged his opponent I was appalled by the commentators, especially Krush acting so offended by it when to a person like me it showed how SKILLED Alireza is at blitz and how slow thinking and miscalculated his opponent was. you don't factor in anything that is in the spirit of competition at all when you consider "quality". On or even Off the board. One would think you are playing chess against yourself and that is all that matters to you. Fans don't even exist.
I have a couple of questions:
How much chess did you watch a couple of years ago, or 10 years ago, or as a child? I bet it was about zero. And that was before you discovered that most chess players are brainwashed, selfish, arrogant old fogies. I wager you never thought of chess as a spectator sport.
What makes you think that there are added strategies, tactics and skills in blitz that don't exist in classical? The positions in the openings are the same, endgame technique is the same, the strategy and tactics are the same, and quick thinking is an advantage in classical--the sooner you can scope out the best moves the better the chances of playing the most effective move.

I see. Excuse me and I'll just go & insult my wife.
Actually it's bedtime and busy day tomorrow, Goodnight. I never did get that work done.

Prove it, make osme points I can address. Because again you are not even addressing the points. You are just conceding them. Try to have an actual debate or i'm just going to start ignoring you and let you flail.
Do you know what projecting is?
