well ok... you are factically right.. but the way how did you say that was kinda confusing ngl...

also i dont use "sometimes happen"  when i only know that the thing exists tho...

but whatever.. no reason for arguing...

eh, youre right anyway. while there are tourneys that do hand out a mil, you'll probably need to compete against the world champion and their challenger for that, so practically speaking, the best we can do is a thousand bucks. but still, that's quite good in some countries

People who have long and fulfilling lives exist too. Doesn’t mean I’ll get there

what I mean is you can’t just use some outlier as an example because it’s not representative of most chess tournaments

Long time controls are unnessary.

It took me under a minute to see that on move 15 black has no checks (C), a few irrelevant captures (C) and a threath on the kingside (T). I play 15. f3 and kick the black knight out of my camp and take more control over the center.

I am not joking. I am 1400-1500-ish.

And in the end we could all play bullet games with one minute each…

And that is also why you are 1400. 15. f3 loses on the spot to Ne3.

Well, it loses the exchange. Converting the exchange-up position is non-trivial, mind.

Hello

JBabkes

Traditionally chess players were concerned with the quality of play. Alot of time to think results in playing generally higher quality moves. But playing chess with fast time controls offers more upsets and potential excitement, which appeals to alot of people and makes chess more marketable in today world.

After looking at it for a minute I decided on 15 Nd1 but I had a similar plan in mind, of playing f4. Operating on the K-side exploits black's loose knight on a5. I prefer my move to h3.

Well you were close I guess, but you don’t want to give black the opportunity of playing f4 himself.

f4 doesn't seem dangerous in that position. White needn't take and I wouldn't go off engine say-so. The first thing I looked at was h3 follows by f4 but white's attack still depends on organising g4. If black plays f4, do you think black's winning? White has a lot of good squares and black's a piece down, temporarily.

Not necessarily immediately. I wouldn't give up a piece just to throw pawns at my opponent, although me from a couple years ago would definitely do it. It's just that f4 is very annoying - black gains space, white has some good squares but ultimately he's stuck defending.

Anyhow, this is a perfect opportunity for some high rated pillock to berate me for thinking a move of mine could be better than a move of a GM. Perhaps you know which one I have in mind. I wouldn't wish to deprive him, or anyone else for that matter, of the joy of being unpleasant and stupid.

What the ???? are you talking about man ?? You was doing pipi in - wait, I'm not old enough to make that joke.

Also, I learned a new word. Pillock. I guess I can use it to insult my friends.

because they are hanging on to old outdated traditions instead of doing what the fans and players themselves want.   To go deep into it its because old people can't think as fast and are sore losers over getting flagged when in winning positions so they brainwash the youth to feel the must resign matches and play classical.

Chess wasn't meant to be a spectator sport, though. When trying to get spectators, then blitz and bullet is gold - but in terms of over-the-board, nobody's streaming it, nobody's donating, etc... You just go and play your best game. It doesn't really have anything to do with sore losers. The standard FIDE time control usually has 30 second increment, so nobody gets flagged.

I remember in the 90+30 SD/30 tournament I played in a couple weeks back, the TD said "you must always record, no matter how low on time you are... there is no such thing as time pressure with the 30 second increment".
