Why are people apart of the LGBTQ+ community so discriminated against?

Read this post before commenting. Thanks!

Since so many LGBTQ+ debates have hijacked threads, caused drama, and become locked, I figured I would give my best shot to make a designated thread for such. Since this will obviously become heated sometime or another, I’ve made a few ground rules for this thread.

No religion. I’m implementing this because it’s against the site rules and isn’t a credible debate.
No politics. This will be more difficult. Sharing news is perfectly fine, so as no politics and political figures are mentioned throughout.
No personal attacks. Attack the argument, not the person. If you can’t possibly get through to someone after many attempts, just ignore them.

No off-topic discussion. Stick to the topic in this post. Use OTFDAN for anything that's on your mind.

That’s pretty much all. Failure to abide by these rules could result in me blocking you if I continue to warn you and you don’t stop. Feel free to discuss this with me and others in DMs, or create a club around it.

Anyways, for the main portion of the thread:

I made this thread out of passion for this topic. I’ve included myself in every possible LGBTQ+ debate I’ve seen throughout my time here, and in the past few months, I’ve noticed a few threads and conversations arise. I’m an open-minded person who wishes nothing but happiness for others, and I’m accepting towards all people, including the LGBTQ+ community. Living in Texas, I’ve had to bite my tongue after hearing the things people say about these people, and it irks me to see them discriminated against for simply being themselves.

Throughout my talks with friends about the topic and posting on such threads debating this issue, I haven’t yet heard a good argument for why people dislike people who are LGBTQ+. Here’s what I’ve heard:

The obvious one (religious).

“They’re weird”.

“If this continues, we won’t be able to reproduce and populate the Earth”.

Number one is just silly. Nothing more on that.

Number two is arguably even worse. It’s very odd of people to hate a group og people for being different than them. They’re not hurting you, and can easily be ignored by you.

Number three is interesting. The Earth continues to grow each year, since more and more people are willing to have kids. LGBTQ+ does not affect on such.

So, the point of this post was to ask the community why there is so much bigotry in the world, and why this group of people can’t catch a break from people. In my opinion, whatever makes people happiest is what they should do or be. Someone’s sexuality, gender, or appearance isn’t a threat to anyone or anything. People should be more accepting of people’s choices instead of making up some dumb reason to dislike them.

Oh, and being a part of LGBTQ+ isn’t a mental illness.

Feel free to share your thoughts about the topic here. Whatever your opinions are, be respectful when discussing with someone.

Keek!

Religion does not have to control your views.

The goal of this post was to see if there were any good arguments against this post that weren't religious or political. That's why it's in OTF and not a club.

Anyways to answer your question it’s just a societal stigma against the people in question. The only problem is that it’s justified in our lens by the actions done by those whom take the title of woke and activists. In an attempt to help represent and protect the image of the people’s they instead taint the image that the lgbtq has.

Oooh, drama!

Being LGBTQ+ is completely fine, I don't mind it unless they are the kind of person that would attack people and start arguments etc..

Whether you're LGBTQ+ or not, I respect everyone that has respect too.

It is morally wrong in my opinion, but other people have different morals and I respect them.

Which is how it should be. People should be judged based on their personality and not automatically be judged based on something that doesn't really matter.

Some people hate them because of religion. But we're not talking about that.

Other people hate them, because, well, they are different. In today's society those who are different are the most vulnerable to hate. People need someone to mock so they will feel better themselves, this can be because of their low self-esteem. It doesnt only relate to LGBT, people with disabilities and mental disorders are often hated too.

Agreed.

Being lgbt isn’t a bad thing, you’re just a part of that group and you’re allowed to love anyone you choose to love

I would say more but I don't want to beef with anyone

Why, in your opinion, is it morally wrong?

I believe most of the people that attack to LGBTQ+, disabilited people etc. are children, or people that lacks respect and emphaty.
