Why are people apart of the LGBTQ+ community so discriminated against?
Before we get into more heated arguments, please remember to keep this discussion respectful and make sure no one will feel bad after the argument.
Thank you.
REPEATING AGAIN:
Please keep this thread safe and respectful against all odds. Don't attack the person, attack the argument. Otherwise it will get locked.
But I’ll give my opinion I suppose.
I don’t discriminate against them, I don’t mind them at all, if you treat me how you want to be treated sure, but if you try doing something more then that idk, like just stay in ur bubble when it comes to ur gender/sexuality, just be friends and life will be fine, if you want to express yourself sure, but Like don’t make it your whole personality and don’t act like it towards me…
There are 2 genders. Males and females are meant for each other. Nothing will make me change my mind from the truth.
Interesting discussion. You know my thoughts on this, and I will abide by your rules if I comment here.
I think the main reason for "discrimination" is that (and this is my belief), it goes against the natural order of life and nature. Nature has been designed for male and female to reproduce after their own kind, and to many people this goes against it.
Another reason perhaps is that our society makes such a big deal out of the homozexual community. They get an entire month, social privileges, and are "made much of" for a relatively small group of people, while there are many (relatively) large ideologies that are shunned in public and ridiculed for their beliefs. I think this causes unnecessary friction and leads to more "discrimination" due to unfair bias towards the homozexual community.
And perhaps a third reason is that many members of this community do not endear themselves towards the rest of society, particularly the ones who disagree with them. I believe there are standards that are more or less concrete in our culture, particularly in public, and some (not all) of this community have blatantly disregarded those standards. Behavior such as public displays of your body, shoving rainbows in your face (not a very big exaggeration) and calling everyone who disagrees with them "homophobic" does not lead to a polite response back to you.
These are my thoughts.
Also I have a request to make of you Basix. I will make sure to be respectful and polite to everyone who engages in this thread, would you be so kind as to make it a rule that you cannot call people homophobic in this thread? I don't believe it's an appropriate response to label someone a "homophobe" simply because you disagree with them, and that should make sure that this thread stays fair and polite to all regardless of personal beliefs.
Thank you.
Hiya, Ethan! Thanks for the thoughtful post!
I suppose this is fair. That said, this group is a minority, and the "Life cycle" of the Earth can still continue regardless of gay marriage, transitions, and other things. A very high level of reproduction occurs with each year between a man and a woman (The traditional way) and will continue to.
Pride month was implemented because only now in 2025 can people finally start to act upon what they're feeling. Being Gay, transgender, or any part of the LGBTQ+ community has been frowned upon for so many years. The reason it's getting so much attention is to celebrate these people, and the movements towards their rights throughout time. Maybe there could be better uses for the month, but I see absolutely no issue with it.
For the third point, I agree to an extent. Though at the same time, the vast majority of LGBTQ+ members are quiet about it, and don't bring attention to themselves with your choices. Unfortunately, social media has made it easy to push their beliefs on people, kind of like a religion. I think that pushing their ideologies on others can't be a good thing either, but also that most people choose to not do so and move on.
I will not call anyone homophobic unless they bring it upon themselves with rage-bait posts. Disagreeing and making stupid comments about this subject are very different. But most likely, I won't be calling anyone a homophobe.
Agreed once again.
Being lgbt isn’t a bad thing, you’re just a part of that group and you’re allowed to love anyone you choose to love
I hate people who hear LGBTQ+ and only think of homosexuals. It's sooooo irritating.
