Chess.com doesn't allow political or religious discussion because it has the potential to devolve into argument, personal attacks and all around nastiness. So does this issue, but it is still allowed.
I think people should be able to have discussions on all of these topics as long as it stays civil and respectful. But chess.com seems to have a lot of double standard when it come to deciding whether or not a thread gets locked.
Enforce your policies and rules equally. Not just when you feel like it.

I'm glad you've had a gay old time today. Mine is starting now with food and good music. It's the time of day to let the deficiencies of the site and the world in general to dissolve into nothingness. Time to move on to more peaceful endeavors.
