Even the bible starts with "In the beginning" Then evolves into 7 days of the week.

A fairy tale: A girl kisses a frog and it turns into a prince. Add millions of years and you have evolution. Yes, your relilgion is based entirely upon imagination and emotion for your "truth". I'm interested in proof not failed science. Interesting that you should bring up eternal life.

I'm not sure if I follow you? The theory of evolution is pretty darn interesting, but of course it has not been able to account for human beings yet. But it is a new theory compared with the Abrahamic religion's theory of the origins of human beings, and is much more understandable than the Abrahamic religion's view, for me at least:)

I guess it all depends where you want to put your faith. It's better to tell the truth that hurts and then heals than a lie that comforts and then kills.

Hey, just for the record, here is a reminder of #71 :

Any comments about the pepper moth, or the annual flu shot ?

Or are you conveniently ignoring them ?

I don't consider it "faith", my view upon the theory of evolution. I'm just following the discoveries which reinforce the theory. The theory is quite brilliant and deserves the accolades it has received.

Like I alluded to before, "faith" has nothing to do with science. But of course I've read people who seem to think it does.

Evolution has not been scientifically proven. It takes faith to believe something that is unseen.

Why would you want to do that?

Still nothing to say about the peppered moth ?

That's only the fourth time I remind you of this, of course.

I don't follow.  Why single out human beings?  Evolution accounts for every form of life on the planet.  Apart from being more intelligent than other forms of life, there is nothing that special about us.

This discussion is going a loooong way to dispute that :)

The theory accounts for all life, but the proof of the matter is still in development. I did single out human beings as an example which I did not make clear:)

...the realization of which is the real rationale behind dismissing evolution. Heliocentrism was dismissed for the same selfish reason ("how can we, humans, not be at the center of the universe ? shocking !")

Science is the evidence of things seen (cmp. Hebrews 11:1).

I believe in a creator, but neither claim to know her intimately nor let this belief interfere with my perceptions of things that can be known through evidence. Whoever the creator may be, s/he/it certainly intends me to use my head for something other than stabilizing my feet when I walk.

For all those saying that there is no proof for evolution: what sort of proof would be acceptable to you?

What does that have to do with evolution???????

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo
