For some reason the Blue Jays are off to their worst start ever. They lost again today and are now at 1 and 9, not all that good so far.

The Edmonton Oilers have just defeated the LA Kings 2 to 1 in tonight's game and now are set to go on to the NHL Playoffs for the first time in 11 years ( Go Oilers Go !!! ).

---   And the lineup has been settled for the playoffs. Edmonton will play against the San Jose Sharks in round 1 of the NHL playoffs (  Go Oilers Go !!! ).

---   Well the Oilers took a " Big Bite " out of the Sharks and Edmonton goes onto play in Round 2, now against the Anaheim Ducks ( and who will have the last " Quack "    lol ).

They'll be okay as long as they are playing 500 ball by the end of may. In 2015 when they won the east they were playing 500 until mid July when they broke out. That team is too good to stay this bad. Lots of injuries, two of their best startinging pitchers and of course Donaldson and Tulo. Bautista is starting to see the ball better as well Martin. Pillar is on fire at the plate. They still haven't won a series or two in a row for that matter, but I think they are still a powerhouse that will turn it around soon. It's early, and not too late for the jays to recover.  My team is off to a bad start as well.

Thanks for the post Slow_pawn. Good points, the season is still very young.

From time to time one can find some great stuff over on YouTube. Earlier today I came across a clip from the 1988 World Series, called by Vin Scully of course. It was from Game 1, bottom of the 9th with 2 out and the Athletics leading the Dodgers 4 to 3. Well it is Kirk Gibson coming up to bat and he has quite a bad limp but he manages to work the count to 3 & 2. Eckersley has to throw something good and Gibson hits the 2 run homer to right field ( a very beautiful 9 minute video clip ).

AlCzervik

great call by vin, too-"i don't believe what i just saw!"

I remember Eckersley. He's a analyst for TBS now I'm pretty sure. I've actually seen that clip before.  You're right, lots of great baseball on youtube. I watched the '68 world series on youtube one year. Funny how so much is different and yet the same.

The Blue Jays have been looking better, badenwurtca. Last season around this time they were 22-24 and won the wildcard. As of today they are 21-26. They just beat my team 2 games in a row. Watch out when they get all their main guys back.

badenwurtca

Thanks for the post Slow_pawn. Yes they are doing better now so with a lot of luck they still might be able to get a wild-card spot ( maybe   lol ).

Meanwhile the NHL has the Stanley Cup finals happening with Pittsburgh leading Nashville by 2 games to 0 ( 1st time Nashville has ever reached the finals ).

badenwurtca

Nashville won Game 3 last Saturday and has just won Game 4 as well, the Best of 7 series is all tied up now.

AlCzervik
