In one of my threads I have stated that I'm not fond of the wintertime but then again this time of the year the NHL starts off on a new season of play. Good luck to all 7 teams that are based in Canada ( however it is mainly " GO OILERS GO !!! " ).

The World Series for 2014 has been set. The Kansas City Royals will play against the San Francisco Giants ( I'm going with the Royals in 7 games ).

It is Tuesday October 21st and the 2014 World Series is underway ( Go Royals Go  lol ).

NOOOOOOOOO !!! Say it isn't So !

I just read that Bud Selig will get a yearly pension of $ 6 million dollars now that he is leaving Baseball ( ie: leaving at last ! ). I think that six dollars per year is what he deserves, at the most ( remember 1994 Bud ??? Well the fans sure do ! ).

Ernie Banks, aka as Mr Cubbie has passed away. The Cubs have not won the World Series since 1908, so this year to salute Ernie: GO CUBS GO !!! ( hey it's been 107 years, come on you guys ).

Happy Days Are Here Again !!! Yes the pitchers and Catchers have started to report to Spring-training. To quote the Old Judge from the Grand Ole Opry: " Let Her Go Boys !!!"

And before I forget: GO JAYS GO   GO JAYS GO   GO JAYS GO !!!

Thanks for the post AlCzervik. Well I don't want the Cub fans to give me heck but it has been 21 seasons since Toronto won a World Series so we need to get off to a very fast start ( So ... GO JAYS GO !!! ).

As a Cub fan, I don't feel for you at all. 21 years? Pfft. We'd be happy with that.

--- Thanks for the new post AlCzervik. Yes it is tough to be a Cub fan. Mind you many years ago I used to like the Expos but they were taken away from us ( in part due to the disaster of 1994 that was caused by that awful Bud Selig ).

Sometimes there is good news and there is bad news:

Good news: Bud Selig is gone at last ( go sell some more of your junk used cars Bud ! ).

Bad news: Spring training is not over yet and the Blue Jays have lost one of their Starting Pitchers ( a bad omen ? ).

I understand that something quite awful happened the other day for Cub fans at the home-opener in Chcago. Numerous fans were able to get several beers but then 2 of 3 restrooms in one area of the statium were closed down for some reason. This could possibly come under the heading of " cruel and unusual punishment " I believe  lol.

The NHL playoffs started the other week so quite a number of sport fans on this continent are quite happy ( and may the best team win the cup ).

The NHL recently awarded Lord Stanley's Mug to the Chcago Black Hawks who defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in 6 games to win the championship.

On July 3rd I bought a newspaper to check on the Blue Jays who have had a up and down season ( or a down and up season ? ). At this time there is a sort of 4 way tie in the AL East: Baltimore at 42 & 37, NY Yankees at 42 & 37, Tampa Bay at 42 & 39 and Toronto at 42 & 39. Kansas City leads the AL Central at 44 & 42 with Houston leading the West at 47 & 34. The NL East is lead by Washington at 43 & 36 with St Louis leading th NL Central at 51 & 27 ( best stats at this time ). The NL West is lead by the LA Dodgers at 45 & 35.

Well as there are still a lot of games left to play it will be interesting to see who makes it into the playoffs this year.
