Why is it so hard for you to accept that evolution is fact?

I can’t get in to a debate about evolution with people who are unable to think for themselves. Analyse the available data and evidence. And make a sensible conclusion.

Too many people start with a conclusion and try to invent evidence to support what they want to be true.

If anyone wants to say evolution is fact, then please, present the indisputable evidence.

Hi Optimus. Nice to see you.

How you been doing?

And neither do I wish to discuss religion. Just the basic science of the existence of everything. The complex nature and precision of the known universe. And the laws that govern it all. Apparently this all happened without a designer, architect or any sort or intelligence. (Sounds like chess.com)

There will be consequences

I have read it. I think it’s good. I think that belief is important. I also think it is important to remember that whether or not any of us personally believe in something or not it doesn’t stop it being true or not.

If I decide I don’t believe in electricity it won’t stop me getting an electric shock if I stick my fingers in the socket!

Just got back from a meal that included hush puppies and sweet tea. If the tea is not supersaturated in sugar it’s not sweet enough. I would have gotten shrimp and grits (I’ll tell you what) but it wasn’t on the menu, so I got shrimp stuffed with crabmeat.

English food indeed.

I agree, I don't think religion has much of a place here.

#305 Firstly, the first and second part of your post is irrelevant to the discussion (though maybe not to hapless) so i will let someone else discuss that. However i disagree with the statement that the happiest people are in the middle of this spectrum. I think that being on the involvement side can make the happiest people HOWEVER many people who solely strive to get as far to that side as possible do forget many important things (including self-pleasure among other things) which i believe is a major part of our existence and purpose as humans. I think that when you picture someone who is “completely involved” with God you get the wrong picture. Being biblically close to God is different than other religions and i will sum what it means for us (as a reformed, presbyterian Christian) as best i can. To be close to God as a christian means to obey his commands in the Bible and to enjoy him (I can get verses if you want). The first one seems impossible and it is but that is on a different subject called sanctification and comes through repentance which i can expound on if you want. But the second one is often neglected at least from the secular perspective. To obey God and his commands is equally important to being close to God. However, this is not 1+1=2. Having one does not get you 50% close to God. They must both be present in order to be close to God and (if done right) are directly related. Also, if you look at many prominent or successful families (in the church) they are usually the happiest and closest to God. I can explain this more if you want

Now for the third and fourth paragraphs: You say say God is just a figure created in human imagination to depict the perfect human (or at least thats what i think you’re saying). Firstly, i want to ask why it is incorrect to hold to the opinion in the third paragraph? Why is that wrong to believe that exists? And if he did exist, why would he not be the anvil to forge a new way of life? He (would have) created us for some reason and would lead us in His will so I see no reason why that alone disqualifies his existence. I agree that make promises can lead to guilt but I don’t quite see how thats relevant. If we, as Christians do have guilt, we have a reliable way to rid it. Yet another argument how being close to God can produce happiness. But i’m probably misunderstanding that last paragraph so if you would expound or give feedback i’d be grateful

In India they boil up tea dust with buffalo milk for about 5 minutes. It's slightly heavy for my taste. I don't take any sugar in tea or in coffee. I have a really good manual beans to coffee machine and about ten different types of beans to blend. Regarding tea, I have a teapot made out of aluminium in about 1932 and different types of Assam and Darjeeling tea,

Tannic acid will leech aluminum from your teapot faster than other foodstuffs/beverages. Most modern cookware with aluminum has it clad in something else. There are studies (inconclusive as yet, but...) tying aluminum to Alzheimer’s.
