For the same reason I don’t think electricity is a Communist plot, or that the vaccines implanted microchips in us, or that the Earth is flat. I’m not ready to abandon the corpus of science in favor of, well, Fairy lore?
And when you think about it, the Way Things Turned Out isn’t a bad thing. 10s of millions of years of ancient life came in handy. God, if He/She really exists, SHe planned that pretty carefully, giving us billions of barrels of for now life sustaining fuel, until our science comes up with an economical replacement.

I think the moment we’re all waiting for is the discovery of how and why The Replicator formed. I’m not holding my breath; The Replicator is every bit a mythological creation as the Great Entrepreneur (overlooking for now that Optimissed, who I love and adore, once again confused God with the Demiurge).

A tiny amount of energy got into some organic material and animated it and started to guide it's evolution. Either that or some organic material sought out energy. Maybe the two needed each other. I think there's something about energy we don't understand.

My belief is very secure, and I learned about the mechanics of evolution in AP bio. Evolution is a fact, and you are uneducated.
