People sometimes arrive at the same opinion from different paths. Not all paths are the same. Sometimes I think it is important to have either been on both sides or have sufficient empathy to understand both before ever having to choose one.
Most of the young atheists I've seen are not very different from dogmatic religious folks, except now they don't have their "purpose" handed down to them and are unable to find one on their own.

I think the threat of being propagandized and mentally hijacked is greater than the threat of being misled by your own interests and critical thinking abilities. I just turn off the TV when someone starts yapping at me.

I tried to post some other Ayn Rand quotes, concerning Native Americans, Arabs, whether a woman should ever run for President, mentally disabled children, etc. but I got a red banner just for quoting her...

I normally hate debating, as its largely a bunch of grandstanding, but since the opening post was so annoying I'm going to state my opinion.
I agree with the assertion that the opening argument was insulting. I'm a christian who believes in evolution. I'm not going to argue theology here and have no desire to. Convincing someone of an argument becomes much more likely if you do so while respecting the other. I understand many may be frustrated by religion, but approaching someone who doesn't subscribe to evolution in this way is nearly never going to convince them. Nothing against OP personally, I just disagree with the approach. I prefer debate threads and titles to start out neutral, with the OP expressing their view after the first post.
I'm not going to reply to this thread. I'm just stating an opinion.
