Why is the King weaker than the Queen?

Men are usually stronger than women due to their anatomy. However, the King can only move one space in each direction but the queen can move an infinite amount of squares. Why is that ?

You should read one of the many historical accounts of the development of the game.

There a was an excellent book on the subject "The Birth of the Chess Queen" by Marilyn Yalom. It details the story of the change starting 1000 years ago in the role of the original vizier advisor from one of the weakest pieces on the board to becoming the queen, certainly the strongest by 1475.  The changes reflect changes in feudal European society, which saw the rise of powerful queens.

That's fine but threads often take on a life of their own.

Yep. Chess is very sexiest

You’re pretty stupid if you actually think that’s what it means
William323784
Ik. If you think this is sexist go study human anatomy
M1m1c15

M1m1c15

The king puts the queen to work, treats her quite disposably, and then replaces her with a newer model late in the game often following her actual demise.

It would probably be fairer to class him as "not a gentleman". More Henry VIII than Edward VIII
