why is the Russian flag grayed out?

In my opinion it seems obvious why it's greyed out, I figured right away when I saw it.

My bad for not keeping up with Russia and chess. It’s been about 2 years since I got unbanned on chess.com so sorry I’m a little out of date on this.
But out of curiosity, did they gray out the Ukraine flag as well? Because I haven’t played against a Ukrainian.

Ukraine was preemptively attacked by Russia, where Russian missiles targeted housing complexes and other facilities. The atrocities were horrendous, and it is very sad how there’s nobody who will also declare war on Russia in support of our Ukrainian brothers and sisters.

I feel qualified to answer this based on my background and knowledge (read my bio.) Ukraine was attacked by the Russian Federation due to a few issues: NATO was starting to box Russia in in Europe. 2, Russia feels that Ukraine is spirituality part of Russia due to its long history of being part of Russia and their Slavic heritage. Yet, Ukraine had developed their own special culture and religion (Ukrainian Orthodox which is not affiliated with the Moscow patriarchy of the Russian Orthodox Church.) 3, Russia always wants to gain land and Ukraine has access to vital Black Sea ports. The presence there could lead to domination of Eastern Europe and Transcaucasia. Russia had warned that they would attack and gave President Biden a choice: either keep NATO from ever accepting Ukraine into the union or attack. Biden said he could not guarantee that so Russia then attacked. Russia also wants access to Luhansk and Donetsk due to its majority speaking Russian speakers and ROC believers. This is a complex war of history, genetics, culture and power. This lies solely on the Kremlin and Wagner group for the atrocities in Bucha and all across Ukraine. Putin has allowed these crimes against humanity to occur and will be held responsible for them. The reason why no country has joined Ukraine in the fight is two things- if the US gets involved, all of NATO is involved too due to the NATO pact which entails that if a member country is either invaded or assist another country in war, all other members must help out and sign an act of war. This would mean 20 something Nuclear Equipped nations would be fighting Russia. China would probably help out Russia and so would Belarus. At the same time, China could annex Taiwan either ease due to the US’s focus in Ukraine. Also, all countries involved are nuclear equipped, which would mean a guaranteed nuclear war. This would also mean a WWIII. It’s complex and sad. I could go in for hours about this subject but I feel this post sums it up enough. SLAVA UKRAINI!! 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

You do realize that Russia has nuclear weapons that could quite easily destroy everyone and everything around you if the US is involved?

Also, every NATO country had sent a military squadron. Estonia sent 500 army soldiers, Czechia sent 2000, Spain sent a team, etc. Though some didn’t fight the whole war, all NATO countries did participate.

Because chess.com is run by a bunch of hypocrites. United states is responsible for the death of 40 million people worldwide since the end of WW2 by constantly creating conflicts all around the world, but when Russia merely is defending ethic Russians and trying to fight the entire collective west invasion the Russian flag is gray. I will not prolong my paid membership on this site for this very reason.
