Hey Kid. I read it! In work related issues I think it is always necessary to balance the pros and cons and you seem to do that well. A job without cons does not exist anyways. The only person you have true access to change its behavior is yourself. It may or may not be a good opportunity for you to look for or prepare for new horizons. Best Wishes.
Work related question

Hah, glad you read it Lake. This type situation happened before which is why I quit, I went to Kenworth for a year, which is a complete joke. Came back, it was a mutual reinstatment. It almost feels like an unstable job though due to the fact he is willing to sell, he is willing to tell you how crappy you are, when he's drunk, and yet above and beyond all the bullshit it is single handedly the best place to work. The problem I have is the after hours conflict. I bite my tongue and, as you said, balance, the various situations and comments and attidtudes. But, shit, being an employer,is what should be most stressful, a good employee, with a relationship, history, who excells at their job shouldn't have to take this heat.
Either way, thanks for your input LikeTheLake.
Pro's outweigh the cons tbh, but hell,is it close.
This is more of a rant towards, what seems to me, an approachable group of people.
My boss, who is the owner of the company I work for, have known one another for 20 years. Sinse I was a kid. He is a wonderful, patient boss, normally.
Let me preface all this by saying, usually after work we will have a couple drinks and watch a hockey game then go home, thats the norm.
Currently he is trying to sell his business and even if he does he is still locked in for 3 years as a transition period. He tends to leave the shop randomly and often, being the owner and only journeyman on the floor, it gets frustrating. Not only that, not very often, but around once or twice a month he goes drinking a little early in the day and comes back at the end of our shift and starts bitching at us about being shitty employee's, maybe not in that exact same wording. If you argue back or rebutle he pulls out the I am your boss card and starts raising his voice. So there goes the ability to discuss. Yet any other time of the month he claims he is open to critisizem, which when you even start to he attacks your faults then what.
He is reasonable and gives you opportunities to work on your own shit, with your own tools, in his shop which is nice. So a week in advance I told him that I would like to do my moms brakes on her car for a mothers day gift on Saturday, today. He said, okay, no problem. The night before, friday, he goes, gets drunk somewhere and comes back at end ofmy shift and says, you either go and work on site and do CVIP repairs at a gravel pit all day and can't do your moms brakes or nothing. We have work piled up outside the door and I asked if I could work from 8-noon at the shop , do my moms brakes then work whatever time till whatever time. It was a big NO. Yet, any other weekend, we always work OT in the shop. He got another employee to go to the gravel pit topday anyway. He also allowed another two employee's to work in shop today.
Well, I am done ranting lol. Thanks for listening. Sorry for the length and even if this isn't read it was nice to type out and get off my chest.
EDIT; I am an apprentice of his, a neighbour, known him for 20 years and have worked for him for 3 years.
