I still have a couple Risk games from the 1970s. It was very popular with us then. The most fun was the negotiating between players plotting the destruction of a player who was sitting there listening. The alliances, the betrayals, backstabbing, conquering. WAR! The longest game I played lasted fourteen hours. Friends of mine were in one twice as long.
The game is fun but the real joy is in the very open negotiations for the destruction of others and the back and forth taunting that goes with it.
