I did because I think the fellas behind Chess.com are doing a wonderful job making this place the premier chess site on the web. Simply, they have earned my money.
same as rooksbailey i upgraded because it was all good behind the scenes and chess.com earned it :D.
I was actually lucky enough to receive it as a gift from another member, but I was going to upgrade anyway -- they work so damn hard at this site, it would be an absolute crime to not upgrade if you can afford it. I've actually considered the lifetime membership, but my wife has not. 
I also got a gift from a member...how cool is that (Thanks Ian!)... I will certainly renew when the time comes.

Why did everyone here upgrade to a member. I did because i wanted to play more tournments
