Time-out protection

Sort:
grant_obama

Pros:

Protects you from silly losses (For example: internet loss, retirement for short while, ever to continue...)

Buys yourself time on a large scale most of the time

Cons:

Takes up your vacation time

Can anyone else add? Also, I don't like it most of the time because I'm very busy and I accidentally started a bizarre clod of games that end up messing my alerts, NOT GOOD! So then, I had to go on a real vacation and NO vacation time left. I wish chess.com can allow you to turn this "special" feature off.

I really do not like this feature, especially since it is unavailable to the majority of members, no level playing field...

And I prefer Waffles today.

It is available to all chess.com members, they just choose to be freeloaders...

Erik's kids aren't going to feed themselves!

i love the feature. i don't have to worry about putting myself on vacation when i actually GO on vacation. i know it will kick in.

also, we're making a change to vacation soon: all vacations will be a MINIMUM of 1 day. so, no more using "vacation" time to just manage an over-loaded games list. i find it rude when a player uses constant vacation time to delay losses, etc.

vacation was meant for when you go on vacation and can't play your games for a few days, not as a way of extending lost positions or enabling people to play too many games.

Hey that's an interesting idea - I like it.

So if you have, for example, 8.5 days of vacation left, then if you habitually use it as timeout protection then you only can do it 8 times.
