Improving in chess

Hey, guys! I'm Rohan, a 12-year old boy who enjoys playing chess. Chess to me is more than a hobby. I would be willing to pursue it. I have started playing in tournaments about a year ago ( though i've been playing chess for a long time now). I have read quite some books, watched a lot of videos and also practiced for about 2 and a half hours on a normal day. Still, there has not been much progress. I end up losing to players who I know I am better than. What do all of you think about it? Please give me your suggestions on improving my game. Thank you

As you might imagine, this is a popular question around here.  I'm sure you'll get some responses, but in the meantime check out some of these previous threads:

May I suggest reading the book "The art of learning" by Josh Waitzkin, it isn't about chess for the most part, but it explains how he became good at chess, and many things that made him good at chess, and at everything that he has done. I'm sure you can borrow it from the library, it is a good book and you could apply a lot of it in your real life as well
