In your schools do they teach you how to play chess?

They could partner one of those chess coaches with an English teacher. Have the students play 3 day per move daily matches, but the students have to write a five paragraph expository essay explaining why they made that move. You get 2 good writing assignments a week, and you guarantee they will be considering each move carefully, because they have to prepare for their writing assignment. Win win.

There was a famous school in Russia in which the kids learned chess. It was started by Botvinnik. I think their most famous pupil was Garry Kasparov ?
Other than that, I know of no school that teaches chess. Why would there be ? Its not really an universally needed skill.

I and a 1900 gone to the principal to give us permission for bringing chess boards but they are just like nah, focus on your freaking studies
