Well most parents dont supervise their children now a days. It's sad.
I wish Chess.com was adults only. I find the juvenile behaviour on the forums very annoying and off-putting.

juvenile behaviour is by the U13
i would never let my pre-teen have a chess.com account of their own. and i certainly wouldnt let them explore the site unsupervised.
What are you afraid of? Chess.com pretty tame compared to what most pre-teens are doing on the internet nowadays....
i dont think chess.com is particularly afraid of anything. they are simply observing coppa (children's online privacy protection act) laws.
hi guys I'm shreenidhi and now I'm 14 how can I improve my ratings and how can I play tournaments in online
It depends how advanced the kids are but have you tried chess.com's kids site https://www.chesskid.com It has no personal information restricted chat and is designed for kids to learn. The problem may be not enough kids have joined but presumably that's resolved by getting more schools to opt in.
i just played someone who asked for a draw when i went 19 pts up in material. i wonder how old he was...
I was just curious about how members, escpecially those with children, felt about the appropriate age to go onto chess.com. For the most part I noticed that chess.com prefers people under 13 to use their parents email address (of course most anyone would know how to work around that) and this got me wondering about age issues. I had at one time thought about having my middle school chess club (ages 12 to 14) play on this site but wasn't sure how well recieved this would be by parents. I now wonder if I should reserve it for the older players only perhaps? I would love to have some input!
Thanks,

Dude people under 13 are supposed to be on ChessKid.
EamonB1 I don't think age should be the main factor. If they find that they are not getting enough competition from chess kid or chessmatec or any of the other sites and they can play well enough to compete here then I don't really see the harm. Unless playing chess is now seen a sign of a misspent youth.
