Add a classical rating category
Probably only those with membership should be allowed to play Classical Time Controls, they should fill a form to promise to not stall in a lost position... so either play on till checkmate (if they really want to) or resign.
This is an interesting idea.
If chess.com does classical time, it should do actual classical time. That you have so much time to play 40 moves, then you are awarded more time to continue the game. That way if someone abandons, it will take less time to get an abandonment.
I prefer playing at chess.com to lichess but I've moved over to lichess recently solely to have separate classical and rapid ratings as these are the two time limits I prefer to play at. It's a pity as most my friends play at chess.com and when I was a premium member I enjoyed the video content, and endgames drills you get with it.
I only use chess.com for Blitz and puzzles now.
imagine the cheaters sitting there, letting their computer think for a couple minutes then playing that move
imagine the people that are only there to mess with you. you will be wasting your time as they are off doing something else
How hard is to add a classical rating category? If it is about amount of people, I think there are thousands of people playing very slow chess everyday and at the same time there are chess variants open that almost nobody play, but there are still there! I still love all the variants, they can add checkers too if they want, the more the better! But please add a classical rating category.
The site has started work on this
A suggestion that might help. For the new category, games could only start at fixed times (such as on quarter hours, or even on hours). This would help the matching of seeks and would help avoid wasting time waiting for an opponent. Admittedly, half the time one person would need to wait for the next slot - but they could be prioritised for matching to avoid double delays entirely.
Chess only makes sense in classical time controls, especially for those who are not GMs and need to learn. I hope Chess.com adheres to this excellent request.
So your 30 minute chess doesn't make sense?

You think they need a couple of minutes? Hundreds of thousands of cheaters are caught every year on chess.com (from bullet to daily). More will be caught on a classical time control.
When will we get the classical rating? It cannot be hard to add surely
It does take significant work.
First additional fields have to be made available in the database and new field inserts on large databases take time.
Then multiple parts of the site have to get support for the pools, including the live server, client Interfaces (web, iOS, and Android), game views (for things like icons(, have history and search, etc.

Thank you for that insight, Martin_Stahl!
We will patiently wait until then.
@Martin_Stahl Are the team trying to make it, even if it's not fully functioning yet?
I believe I heard that they are working on a classical time control.

there is already abandonment losses.
