Android now forced to have human avatar for coach in Game Review

Sort:
immersive_microcosm

Chess.com has removed the option in the android app to have 'none' for the coach.

Now I have to not only use the ruined game review, but I have to do it with a condescending human avatar coach. Not fun. Please allow us to choose 'none'.

When I put in a help request, it told me that the option still exists, but it doesn't!

You don't have to listen.

You can turn off the coach's audio review.

Thanks for replying.

I'm not talking about the audio. I'm talking about the face/human avatar.

Hey @immersive_microcosm - and anyone else with the same concern. Based on feedback like your, this option will be re-enabled in the near future!

  • Thank you for bringing it up.

If you see this comment you are cursed unless you post this on 3 other forums (don’t blame me I didn’t start it)

In the Chesscom Mobile Android app on my device in the Settings page, it shows v4.6.40, and I can select coach = none.

When I go to the Google Play Store for the app, the Whats New page lists v4.6.39 and states it was updated on Nov 14, 2024.

It's strange that on my device I'm running a newer version than what is in the Google Play Store and coach = none works just fine. I am not running the Beta version.

I have updated my version to the latest version on the Play store

Version 4.6.14-googleplay

Updated on 9 Jan 2025

I checked and I still have no 'none' option in game review.

Happy to send screenshots of you want proof, but they look identical to the ones I posted above.

Thanks for engaging. I hope this can eventually be sorted out.

immersive_microcosm

Sorry, version should say 4.6.41-googleplay

I hope so. It appears they removed the ability to choose a Game Review coach avatar, ( or choose none ), in the Web page Game Review too. (You can only turn on/off the audio.)

It seems this is the direction the Chesscom development team was dragging us towards until you made your post and got their attention, (See post above from #4).
