animation and legel-moves shown options always on!

Starting within the past few days, I suddenly get move-animation and legal-moves-shown, despite having those turned on in my preferences.
And toggling them doesn't help. Even if they appear to be unset in "Settings" they still happen.
This is new behaviour of the site. It is awful.
