Are death threats tolerated

I just played against someone named [removed] who accused me of cheating (which I certainly did not - he just blundered) and then he sent me a message saying that he knew me and would kill me. Do these guys get booted off chess.com? It would seem to me that this behavior would warrant imeediate banning, or do we just accept it.

They can get removed.

There is a link in Support for reporting serious abuse,

/ But Chess.com doesn't want abuse accusations in the forum.

Probably, that player will only get a warning and not get a ban because the last time I reported someone being a racist did not get banned when I checked the account.

The account was banned.

What account?

Look, when you report I always give to another, and I specify what he has told me, where and reason

Public shaming or naming isn't allowed

Absolutely pointless, when the account is "Banned" for verbal abuse or death threats like the one OP received. If they want to be pestering and very annoying. All they have to do is immediately sign up for a new account on chess.com and put any random e-mail which doesn't require a mobile or email linked OTP to verify.
This is the serious issue with chess.com, and then they brag about how millions of new users are singing up on this website. They've allowed anyone to put any random email that doesn't even exist and you can enter the platform and start messaging/talking to people.
The best OP can do to protect himself is, disable messages from people not in your friend list from his account settings. The ban of the account of the person who threatened you, does not solve the problem

It is very easy to keep creating accounts here, some users do it in several minutes after they get banned. I remember there were restrictions to the new accounts so that they could not use chats, private messages, forums for 48 hours but it seems to be removed long time ago as nowadays I often see some 4 minutes old (!) accounts typing trash in chats.

The time needed to create a new account here (several minutes) is significantly shorter than the time needed to get that account banned (from my experience it takes up to several days)

If the email is not activated then social access is disabled.

Is is a big problem to activate an email? I often see accounts created several minutes/hours ago typing trash in chats of tournaments

Yes. People who make death threats are banned (maybe) and come back hours or days later.

As Mr Chatty said. Is it a big problem then for somebody to activate the email? I've had somebody in the past who made up to 7 different accounts just to keep messaging me everytime I blocked them. They made new accounts along with new emails to constantly get under my skin. The verification process on chess.com is extremely weak and needs a phone linked OTP to solve this crisis
