Bad UX... needs improvement

I have mentioned this before. Some of us play from a dialup connection (PPP over DSL) that is still widespread outside the "first" world, and it is common for the link to disconnect every 12 hours or so and you need to redial it, which can be done in less than a minute.

BUT, the ONLY indication I get that the connection is down when playing a game is a tiny word "Reconnecting" next to my name, which I almost always miss until I start wondering why my opponent is not moving, THEN glance there, spot the tiny word, redial the connection but now it is too late & my game is lost due to abandonment.

WHY CAN'T chess dot com make the "Reconnecting..." notification that indicates a connection disruption more prominent so that the player actually gets to know that their connection is down and stand a chance of helping to reconnect before losing the game? A competitor's website for example has a prominent RED bar popup at the bottom of the screen which is impossible to miss. This is a really simple UX change that can benefit live game players from connections that are not gigabit fiber from the Valley.

Hope the chess dot com people take note. Am sure I'm not the only one who has talked about this.

You might use the "Make a suggestion" link on the Help menu. Putting something about needing a prominent warning over a lost connection in the subject may help too.
