I will also confirm that the solution is simple. Move the filter lists server side, and make only one list instead of having different platforms use different lists. Post submissions must hit the server anyway to complete, so this does not really add any significant bandwidth or transactions. This is how it should have been architected from the beginning.

The list is server side.

How, then, can some posters call themselves mute donkeys and I get muted for quoting them? Your claim makes no sense.

It sucks to get hit by the filters. I've been hit before. I completely understand the frustrations but the solution is not to remove the filters.

A lot of very bad content does get filtered and handled automatically and those that try to circumvent the filters, generally know it, so manual moderation on those become a bit easier. Enough stuff gets through now with creative editing as is; with no filters, it would be much worse.

One of the best solutions, and likely easiest solution, is to make the apps submit through an API so they trigger the filters correctly.

Apparently there's not an API the apps post through that also trigger the filters, but it is all server side.

I have drawn attention in the past to posts that I cannot quote. Nothing happens.

There have been some more recent improvement in the moderation tools available and I know the head of the mod team has been working with getting other things implemented. I don't know if improvements on the filters or forcing app posts through the filters is on the roadmap or not.

If the admins could remove this post, and mute the poster, then I would believe they care.

It won’t happen.

Thanks, @Martin_Stahl

Doesn’t remove the problem. There are many other such posts. But, you clearly care and take action.

yes.

there was talk earlier of scrapping the bots, and, of course, martin replied that they can't do that.

there would be no suggestion to start over if they weren't so bad. so, in the mod meetings, is there a push to get staff to (gasp!) spend money to have a filter that works?

Well, then it needs to be one list, as I mentioned, or it needs to be applied uniformly across platforms happy.png.

Thanks for looking into it. I am aware (albeit indirectly) of the gulf that exists between the mods and getting feedback to/from the dev team, and that is definitely staff's issue, not the mods.

If this bug is affecting users over and over again, and it has been going on for years and years now, then how many other users that are silent and not even reporting it (or don't even understand why they got automuted at all) has this affected?

The bot was sleeping when https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/why-are-us-americans-horrible-at-chess?newCommentCount=1&page=2#comment-88405421 was posted.
