I had something similar I was playing and my opponent was about lose to no time left and they kept adding time on her clock until I eventually lost due no time on the clock. I honestly think chess.com picks who they want to win at times it's happened to multiple times. To the point I think its time I retire from chess altogether if I'm going to be cheated out of time & points I might as well quit chess
Your opponents can't impact your connection. The clients never directly connect so your opponent's can't get your connection details to cause any type of issues

That's caused by lag, lag compensation, and potentially disconnects.
