huh
Chess.com is a popularity contest

I've paid for memberships to this website for two consecutive years, and all I've got to show for it is a reminder that I'm not as smart or as popular as some others. This website is terrible for mental health, and it profits off of the emptiness and dissatisfaction that you feel with your life. It is a bad bad bad company.

Toxic community, manipulative influencers, and no effective moderation or support presence.
if u stay out of the social side, and just play chess, none of this would be relevant

You could do the same.

Have fun, then. I don't have a problem with that. I'm just sharing feedback of my experience with the website and with the community.

... If chess.com doesn't do something to reduce the vanity of the user experience on this website, then I am going to close my account soon.
What's wrong with a little vanity?
The current user profile page is terrible. I hate seeing how many friends and followers a user has instead of what their chess rating is. It makes me so envious of more popular people that I spend hours of every day on the forums trying to increase my notoriety, instead of playing chess. I sincerely feel like my life is being trafficked by chess.com. If chess.com doesn't do something to reduce the vanity of the user experience on this website, then I am going to close my account soon.
