if i was admin we would never have a problem i would mute ppl left and right but i would need real proof
Chess.com is in a crisis! (Especially Social)

There’s no need to rant about how bad chess.com is after you spend hours on it every single day and love the site. You got a week mute and you’re back now, so you should move on from this instead of complaining. Maybe you got an undeserved mute, but who cares? Anyone else would’ve been banned by now, so you should consider yourself rather lucky that your account is still open. The moderation and staff support is decent, and you should’ve contacted them if you thought there was a problem, darling.
Yes but the mute is stupid and change is needed. At least you didn't get muted. Not to mention the number of people who get unfairly banned. You can love a site and hate the moderation - there are plenty of wonderful people on this site that I'm friends with but at the same time the public moderation is terrible. It's both too lax and too strict - the wrong people get muted half the time (Jared, Caleb, Midnight) or even banned (GM, Catto, TDC, etc etc etc).
I’ve been IP banned for seemingly no reason. It was frustrating, and I did do the same thing as Joseph in that particular instance. But a week mute that wasn’t even a week is nothing to complain about, seriously.

If Facebook did the same thing to their users (random week long mutes), they'd be out of business! It's not fair to block someone from the social side of chess.com for no reason for a week - you don't see a problem with that?

@magipi It’s unlikely there will be a public response regarding moderation of specific accounts. I cannot share if a specific account was muted or why. For this, the affected user must contact support.
There is also the misunderstanding by some that getting reported will result in a mute or ban. Reports alone will not result a mute or ban. There needs to be evidence and action taken by a moderator or staff.
i admit, I’m not perfect but will allow others to speak for themselves.
Mutes are temporary and only staff can ban users.

The mutes aren’t usually random, my friend. Chess.com does a fair job at muting people when necessary. Maybe he wasn’t spamming DPC or whatever and shouldn’t have been muted, but he shouldn’t flame the hard-working staff and moderators, which is my entire point.

i feel like the bad mob do a lot more dange then the good mob can clean up
agreed

Agreed, at least we got a moderator in here who can tell us about their side of things!

One thing I've noticed, in particular on Daily Puzzle related spam, is some members tend to try to police it themselves in the comments and ultimately contribute to the spam by either quoting it or increasing the amount of discussion around it. That itself can be considered spam as well.
If you encounter it, down vote, report, and/or otherwise ignore. Contribute to puzzle related discussions only and let the report system work.

The report system takes around a few hours to catch any spammers.

And i have noticed that spammers don't usually get any punishments when i report them. Or that it is rare

Also the Support button at the bottom left does absolutely nothing for more complicated problems
100% agree with you on that statement

Then ignore your silly problems and move on with your life. Why do you people complain so much over nothing?
It's a real problem, but I guess this is what comes when you have a website with millions of users.
