Chess.com new puzzle update sucks.

If you are unaware, chess.com re leased a new puzzle update introducing new puzzle difficulties and new ratings. But the problem is the system doesn't seem to work according to that. For example. I was 2500+ rated in puzzles but due to this update my rating decreased to 1900+. That rating loss is not a problem. But when I do puzzles now for solving the correct puzzle I get 3 to 5 rating but if I get one puzzle wrong, I lose 15 rating points. I guess the algorithm still thinks that I am a 2500 rated player and when I get the puzzle correct it gives me 3 rating points but if I get the puzzle wrong it thinks I am 2500 rated who got a 1900 rated puzzle wrong. so it decreases my rating up to 15 points

No. That's not the reason. It's like that for all of the puzzles around that level if rated as "Standard" puzzles. If you go to the puzzle settings, then change it to "Extra Hard" and you'll see it closer to what you were used to at 2500 before the change.

Thanks for the clarification.

Am I the only one who gets 5 correct and 1 wrong and occasionally gets like a 15-20 streak

You can change the puzzle difficulty in the puzzle settings with the new update. What you describe sounds like "Standard" difficulty, but if you change it to "Extra Hard" difficulty, then it will be more similar to what you remember before the puzzle rating changes. You'll still go on occasional puzzle streaks, but probably not 15-20 too often.

I'm staying on standard because I'm trying to get a lot correct for puzzle addict

I don't think the difficulty setting matters that much. I usually get puzzles rated around 2000, but sometimes it's 1500, and now I got one that's 3400 and still brutally underrated. I would assume that it's just fully random, and the settings do nothing.

If you're doing the regular rated puzzles and not the Collect Puzzle Points feature, you'll see the old ratings after puzzles. That should be fixed sometime soon. If you check your puzzle stats you'll see that you're not getting a wide range.

That's horrible.

This puzzle that was rated 3400 in the old system and has a 19 percent solve rate, which means the real rating is about 4000.

And in the new system it's rated 2109? Really? Is this some bad joke?

I have always suspected that this whole puzzle revamp is a mess, but this is worse than I would have imagined.

All the puzzles were rerated. There were a lot of misrated puzzles.

That hss some information about all the changes

That puzzle was indeed misrated, because (as I said) it had a 19 percent solve rate at 3400, so 4 out of 5 prople failed at that level. It should've been re-rated to 4000. Decreasing the rating is (as I said) a bad joke.

The stats could be negatively influenced by a number of factors. That was discussed in that interview.

This should be fixed now and the ratings shown should be the updated ratings.
