Strange, indeed. What version does it say when you enter USB mode (press the power button once)? Mine says “The King 2.61/1.40”.
Chess.com Support for Millenium Exclusive and King Performance via ChessLink

Mine says 'The King 2.61/1.21'
What update tool did you use? I used KE_Update_PC_V1_53
downloaded from here: http://download.computerchess.com/Firmware/KE/KE_Update_PC_V1_53.zip
I used the same update app. Was the board connected to your module when you updated? I updated my module with the board connected.

Tanks, that helped a lot!
I have found what the problem is. I had to scroll down to see available firmware TKE 141

Yes, I have the Exclusive 960 edition as well and it works like a charm, you will have to wait for the beep signalling that the computer unit is done updating, as you turn your computer off and you get the USB mode, you will be able to see the version you are running, it should read 1.40

It reads 1.41 with me after the update. Apparently there is even a newer update brought out the last couple of hours.

Hah! I'll download it at once, thank you!

I don't find any clock setting after installing the latest update? Except an option to set the clock timer, (15 min), on or off. I don't see any options to play blitz games or anything?

You have to change the menu to Expert then you'll get all the old options but you loose the Comfort levels, the Comfort menu only allows 15 minutes or unlimited

Thanks, I find it. It is somewhat hidden in the menu. I had to go to menu, then to options, and then to menu again to change it to expert. Wil it play at full strength when I select for example Blitz 3 to play 10 minute games? I would like some options to combine the settings for the playing strength, (or adaptive mode) and for the playing time. I seem to me that this is not possible at the moment.

How do you start a game against the computer with the app Millenium ChessLink? I don't see an option for this. I have version 1.0.1
And is it possible to play against Maia https://www.reddit.com/r/chess/comments/k4o6z1/introducing_maia_a_humanlike_neural_network_chess/
On the Millennium Exclusive board somehow.
Ladyhawke79,
Not sure of your overall set up - you'll need to have the Millenium Chess Genius Exclusive connected to the Millenium ChessLink device. On your cell phone, you'll need to have the ChessLink app installed.
Once you're all set up, you'll log into Lichess via the ChessLink app on your phone, which only has the options to start a standard timed game, or an individually timed game. You should see a blank chess board.
On your computer, you will log into Lichess via your web browser. On Lichess on your web browser, you will start a game with the computer. You should see the chess pieces populate on the ChessLink app on your phone, and the time controls will appear.
This is usually where I abort or resign the game on the app (using the little hamburger menu on the ChessLink app). Then, using Lichess on the computer, I send a challenge to my friend, and once the game starts, you should see a populated board on the ChessLink app. If the time controls load and your friend's name appears, you're good to go. Just play OTB. If not, I find that rebooting everything and trying again will do it (although that is not usually necessary).
I hope that helps. I'm TechnomanSlade on Lichess too, I'd be happy to play with other Millenium ChessLink users. I'm not a member of the development team. I'm just really excited about online OTB play.

Ladyhawke79,
Sorry I didn't answer this part of your question. You can play chess engines on the Millenium Chess Genius Exclusive if you have a computer, the ChessLink module, and an application that allows you to load chess engines. I don't know if Maia is packaged like most other chess engines yet.
I use HIARCS Chess Explorer, which has support for the Millenium Chess Genius Exclusive via the ChessLink module. If you use the PC version (like me), you need to connect the ChessLink via USB to the PC (the HIARCS software doesn't support bluetooth electronic boards, but ChessLink has a USB connection for PC). You'll go to the Preferences menu, Advanced tab, and then select Detect under the Electronic Board (if the MCGE doesn't automatically show up).
If you are able to download Maia, you would load it into HIARCS using the Preferences menu, Engines tab, then associate the engine to the software program. I haven't tested this.
Finally, you'll open a new game against an engine (it's an icon that looks like a faceless man), select the engine you'd like to play against, and accept the start of the game. Once the game starts, you'll click the icon that looks like a normal "Wifi" signal (which links the board to the particular HIARCS tab that you have open).
Hope that helps.
I don't even use the King or the original Chess Genius module, only use HIARCS on my iPhone with Bluetooth on the Chess Link. However, I am intrigued by the UCI interface to PC/Mac. I think it works with Fritz right? How about those old emulated chess machines?
I just updated my modules today and did not realize Millennium put the more recent firmware BELOW the default version... I will have to check again tomorrow. This was not a smart design decision... however, I love the Chess Genius Exclusive! Everything I want on it but I know some people don't like the LEDs. I love them. Can play silently, no annoying sounds. No waiting for the robot to move the pieces (like Square Off) and no pressing on the squares (like the King Performance). If they expanded the support via Chess Link, it would be even better, but HIARCS is already very good.

There is no support for Fritz i think. I have tried it but I don't find a way to do this. I also would like to use my Chess Genius Exclusive board with Fritz from Chessbase. To play training games where fritz warns you if there is een interesting tactics to play, or if you have make a blunder. In that case I would still have to look the screen to see if there is in interesting tactics to play. This could be easily solved by using an audio signal in Fritz updates. It should be possible to connect the board to Fritz with this software: http://www.solanosoft.com/index.php?page=millennium-chesslink-uci
But it seems very complicated and I didn't manage to get it work.
You tried using this to connect to Fritz? The new UCI link?

Yes I did but I find it strange that I find no setting to change the brightness of the LED's, that's why I think there is sommeting wrong with the update. I have read the manual carefully and I also waited for 5 minutes to let the update finish so the King module beeps and restarts.
