Not such a bad idea. Lichess does that and seems to work well.

I wish it were an option too as I can’t go to OTB tournaments anymore either but cheating would be a huge problem. Not the entire game of course someone could just be using an engine in critical positions and there you have it.
I get you. Even still, it’s a online chess title with no real value beyond that. Heck, give the cheaters the title if they can pull it off and not get their account closed. Chess.com’s fair play system is pretty accurate regardless, so I doubt it would come to that. And even if they someone did pull it off, I think the one that knows is them and they know it’s not legit. I’m not suggesting to give any benefit beyond the title itself, so it can definitely be given out pretty loosely imo
I don't really play much in OTB tournaments anymore. I would love to make a push for a master title, but I never can find the time to set aside for playing in OTB tournaments. Having a online titled player system could be really cool. You could have online norm tournaments to make it feel more earned too. Chess.com already has their fair play system, so someone cheating their way into a title wouldn't really be possible. Plus, it's just a title given by chess.com, so it's not like it holds any real value (not that chess.com isn't valuable haha).
As far as Titled Tuesday and other events requiring a master title, I don't think anyone with just a chess.com title should be included in that. There's probably a bunch of other factors to take into account that could make this implementation difficult. I think it could be something fun and give members on this site something to shoot for.
The real reason I'm suggesting this is to make myself more of a chess addict than I already am haha
