They want to guilt you into using the site more
coach david's face too sad after I lose.
Ofc he's sad you lost . Hes yo coach after all
no thats the face he would make if you were to tell him you're quitting the team. After you lose... his face should be more like a "hey buddy, that was a hard one alright." its almost more like a the fonz doing a "ehhhhh!" you know hes almost smiling actually cause it was so exciting.
literally after half my games, coach david looks like he's ready to check himself into the psych ward. Why? Can someone tell coach david that this is just a game? We're here to have fun, "coach".
how do y'all even come up with such complaints lmao that's creative

So basically you're upset because a small (coded) pixelated image of a coach seems to be frowning at you?
@glasscamp dont worry man it's just code lmao, you're making it sound like a 2D avatar of a bot is a real human who's tryna emotionally manipulate you

Coach sad now I sad i quit chess ahh manipulation
I thought they would want more people in their site or something
While the artist clearly intended to have the avatar express empathy at the loss, my grievance is that the "feel" at the end of a loss (mind you this is unavoidable after each game) is that of disappointment in my performance. Am I projecting my own feelings? Sure. But the job of a chess coach is to encourage good sportsmanship. Winning and losing isn't everything in chess. And a loss is no reason for your coach to have such a long face. I will stand by my statement that the coach is obligated to maintain a positive attitude throughout the entire process, whether his students are winning, losing, or drawing. I say this as a class A player and a chess coach IRL myself. The student will beat themselves up enough, the coach needs to be there to remind the player that a learning opportunity is no reason to frown, and that we all are winners just by trying.
when I lose a game of chess, "coach david" has this look on his face like his cat just died. its inappropriate and destroys the morale. Who's idea was this?? literally after half my games, coach david looks like he's ready to check himself into the psych ward. Why? Can someone tell coach david that this is just a game?
