Diamond Tuesday – prize tournaments for Diamond members
Any cash prize tournaments, if implemented, would likely require the use of Proctor to play, and require two cameras.
In my opinion, these tournaments should be based on rating rather than title, because online strength often has little connection with titles earned over the board. Some players with weaker titles and lower ratings do not have many chances to win prizes in Titled Tuesday, but they would fit perfectly into rating groups here.
The tournaments could be something like:
U1200, 1201–1600, 1601–2000, 2001–2400, 2401–?
I’m not completely sure where the top rating limit should end. Maybe 2401+ is enough, or it could be divided further depending on how many players would participate.
To prevent rating manipulation, the group should not be determined by the current rating, but by the player’s highest rating in the last 60–90 days.
This would make the tournaments fair and very difficult to abuse.
I would like to suggest a new type of prize tournament exclusively for Chess.com Diamond members.
Something similar in spirit to Titled Tuesday, but designed for serious non-titled players who actively support the platform through the highest membership tier.
A “Diamond Tuesday” with prizes could:
• motivate more users to upgrade to Diamond,
• create a premium competitive environment,
• encourage more streaming and community engagement around Chess.com events,
• make Diamond membership feel not only educational, but truly competitive.
I believe this could be a very popular addition for dedicated players on the platform.
