Difficulty understanding post match analysis

I was a premium member for a short time and really enjoyed the depth of analysis after a game, i really think it helped my game progress a little! Often times how ever i would get quite confused with some of the positions provided, especially underage "missed win". There were lots of instances where i couldn't possibly fathom how the suggested move would result in a victory and there is no further explanation than a vague positioning. I have taken the position of only analysing one game per day as per the free membership allows as i struggle to understand the in depth analysis as it only gives a position rather than an explanation. I do understand there are limitless positions to analyse so maybe im expecting too much and should invest in a tutor!

Did you have Show Lines checked?  I always find it helpful to see the top 3 responses.  Even so, I can still get confused following the suggested lines and have to start over.  The Retry section is a good reality check as well; did I really understand what I did wrong or was I just going through the motions.  I've also been known to go old school if I'm just not getting something and break out my little magnetic set and shuffle the pieces around manually.

I believe the "missed win" refers to you missing a chance to win a piece, not win the game.

Or something like that.

Good lord, that makes a lot of sense!

  • Missed win - A move was missed that would have won material, or won the game

Now i know this it'll prove a much more useful tool im sure! I do still think this could be made much clearer on the analysis itself however!

I dont think im in that much of a minority of people who don't read instruction manuals!

I just think there's room for improvement is all!

I thought the very same thing, when I first encountered that "Missed win" line.

I think overuses “giveaway”. Just because the computer would win playing at 3500+ doesn’t mean most humans would.
