Feature Request: Option to Avoid getting paired with New Accounts.

Hello Chess.com Team,

I appreciate the effort you put into improving the playing experience and maintaining fair competition on the platform. However, I believe one feature could significantly reduce the frustration caused by cheaters: an option to avoid pairing with new accounts.

Right now, we have the ability to set a minimum rating range (e.g., no more than -25 below our rating), but we can’t choose to avoid accounts with very few games. This is a problem because:

  1. New Accounts Are a Cheating Risk – While some are legitimate players, most of the detected cheaters on the website are new accounts only. Even though Chess.com bans them eventually, the damage is already done in wasted time and frustration.
  2. Choice Matters – Not every player would enable this option, so real new players would still get games. But some of us prefer to reduce the risk, especially in serious games.
  3. Easy Implementation – Just like we can restrict rating ranges, adding an option like “Avoid accounts with fewer than X games” (e.g.: 50, 100) would give players more control over their matchmaking experience.
  4. Better Experience for Dedicated Players – Many long-time users would rather wait a little longer for a match than risk playing against a potential cheater.

I believe this feature would be a simple but effective way to enhance fair play on Chess.com. I’d love to hear what others think!

Would Chess.com consider adding this option?

1. No one would play them, so they would never get to 100 games. Instead, wait until 10 games or one day, whichever comes first.

In general, opting out of playing new accounts just won’t work
