Reasons can include:
- Internet disconnection
- They know they're in a lost position (don't be like those people)
Also depends in my opinion what opening you play some people would rather play against e.g E4 while others might prefer to play against D4 so they might abort the game to play against an opening they are more prepared for Hope this helps!

Seems like you and I have different definitions of the word "leave" (in this case). I thought he meant when they abandon the game, not abort it. Maybe I'm right. Maybe you're right. Idk.
