I tried it. Like you said, you found the problem playing against bots. As you found, if you just move normally, increment works.
However, premoves may not be working properly against the bots. Multiple premoves should add to total remaining time.
/ There is probably an entirely separate system running the bots- allowing hints, takebacks, etc.
