Misleading delete function in private messages

In the private messages section, there's a delete button, but it only removes the message for the user who clicks it, not for the other person.

I understand the reasoning behind this design choice, and also i realize that it may not be possible or desirable to delete messages from the other side’s inbox.

However, i believe the current delete function is misleading for many users who might assume it deletes the message entirely.

Here's my suggestion:
Add a warning in the confirmation dialog that clearly explains: "This message will be removed only from your side. The other person will still be able to see it."

This small change would improve clarity and prevent misunderstandings.

Thanks for considering. 😊

I can't think of a common messaging program that lets you delete your messages from other parties.

If there were, there would be even more problems with abuse.

Thank you for the response! 😊

As far as i know, it's actually a common feature in most popular messaging apps (like Discord, Telegram, WhatsApp, etc...) to delete your own message for both sides.

Anyway, my suggestion wasn't about changing the functionality of delete.

It was just about adding a warning text to the confirmation dialog of the delete button.

(The confirmation dialog already exists for delete function)

#2 Just to name a few:
iMessage
Viber
Whatsapp
Messenger
Etc.
These are the most common ones. I also agree with #1. I had trouble because of this after accidentally sending messages. Plus there is no way to edit, not like in all the messaging programs I sent
