I have to say that I've tried to use the new review feature and learn to like it since this thread started. However, I have to agree with the negative reviewers here -- it's very bad UI compared to the old review. The buttons/toggles make little sense now - it's hard to know which line it's showing, it stops for moves on both sides, etc. I'm sure many posts before this have gone into detail so I won't bother unless developers want more feedback, in which case I can write up my thoughts (and I'm a dev who is also a UX designer). Sadly, I'm also considering not renewing.
New review presentation is awfull

... it stops for moves on both sides ...
The settings can be changed to only show one side for key moves

It's actually "White", "Black", or "Both" on the web and "Myself" or "Both" on the app. That's -1 for consistency. Supposedly, if I just played as white and choose to review as White, then it'll actually remember that as "Myself" for future games I think. You have to admit that's ultra confusing and buried as far as a feature goes.
Actually, I just realized I'm not sure if we're all talking about the app or the web -- I use the Android app more for reviews than the web but there appear to be differences (maybe unintentional ones. Take this screen shot, for example: "This" wins a bishop? I think the "this" is not showing (a bug I assume):

I mean, that's very kind of you, but they don't care. The Game Review UI is objectively awful, it breaks fundamental rules of UI/UX that a first-year intern on a UI team would know not to do, they've had all the things wrong with it delineated ad nauseum in this thread for over a year, and they have done jack all to fix it. Oh yeah, except I think once danny-boy said they were going to tweak it.
They don't care.

It's not objectively awful as there are members that like it and a sufficient amount of staff in design, project teams, and upper levels liked it enough to implement it
It's also not drastically different from the old design, other than the locations of certain features (overview being separated from the game for example).

NEW REVIEW IS TRASH! FIX IT! The review is slow and jittery. I can't believe they would ship it. I doubt they care tho; if they did, they would have addressed it by now.

#590 yeah it just says puzzle solved now
I wonder why they thought this was a good idea, but we could add this to the pile of improvements that only one single user in this thread think is a good idea.

A new game review has gotten overwhelmingly negative reception, and even months after its release, people are still expressing their utter dissatisfaction with it, and what chess.com team does - instead of trying to actually make changes based on the feedback, they try to gaslight everyone that the review is actually GOOD and people LIKE IT. This is just absurd.

There's no gaslighting going on. There are those that like the design and those that don't. A lot of changes the site makes have supporters, detractors, and those that don't care either way. Many people don't like change; the same thing happened when the site went to the v3 redesign as well.
There certainly are many members that don't like the Game Review changes, though to say it's overwhelming negative is probably not correct. The site did make somee changes based on feedback and the product is still has active development and modifications.
Most changes will likely be incremental and it's not likely the original format will come back.

The voiceover is the worst. I wonder who was it in the developer team who thought that an annoying robot voice is a good idea to implement, and I also wonder why the others didn't stop it.
Other members like it and it can be disabled
What "other members" like it??? I havent seen one who does
Here are just some of the feedback messages from when it was initially released:
- I like the new feature! It helps me personally concentrate on the review/analysis of my game more clearly
- Love the feature. I'd love it even more if I could turn the volume down wink.png (PC)
- A very important feature! I muted it but I think it's very impressive so far~
- Very useful, really! Not only for those who want to learn chess, but also for those who want to master their english! I'm so happy this tool exists. I wish You a Merry Christmas!
- I just tested the audio feature during a game review and it is fantastic...it makes the game review process much more engaging. Great feature!
When I first read these comments I honestly thought they were comedic irony.

I can say I tried to give feedback and engaged in a very long and deliberate and conscientious dialogue mostly off line with chess.com staff but found out that they were deeply philosophically commited to their own ideas of what was good and so it wasn't really much scope for incorporating feedback. They believe in their ideas. It is tough if your philosophy is closer to the old game review. Simple.
But I have to say I still deeply dislike the new game review. It makes me sad everytime I have to use it because it is so disfunctional - from my perspective. And mostly I just don't bother using game review anymore.
