No Sounds Last 3 Days

Is anybody not getting sounds on Chess.com in the last few days?

I have sound effects turned on in options but there is no sound when pieces move.

It is the same on different browsers.

Other websites like Youtube have sound OK.

They say that clearing your cache may help for these unexplained technical problems.

Also, a hard refresh afterwards. (F5)

Clearing cache is the new "did you turn it off and back on?"

I still get the first move as silent in each tactic.

After the 1st move the sound comes back.

That is your browsers fault   Sadly nothing we can do about It. New browsers such as Chrome, Edge, FF etc require that a user interacts with the page in some way before it will allow us to play sounds.

I suppose in theory, if you managed to click something on the page fast enough before the computer move was played you could hear the sound but not sure that is humanly possible.

^^Thanks JD. Interesting.

Is that a recent development in browser behaviour?

I was getting sounds on the first move until recently, like until a week or 2 ago.

Yes, its pretty new that browsers started doing that. They idea is that a lot of site were pop up a new page in background and playing ads on it automatically. So this was the browsers way of preventing that.

^sounds like a price worth paying I guess

I hate those autoplay videos and ads

I can just make the first noise myself with a real chess piece on my computer desk and then let chess.com do the rest...

Thanks!
