Why are there still people with under 500 rating complaining about this idea? Couldn't they chomp on hanging pieces and be above 500?

Idk why bro is saying everyone is complaining. Idk, maybe because what you're complaining is so unnecessary and just another excuse to hate on low elo players, like they have no right to create an opinion or no right to just talk to people in forums, and just instead play chess forever.
