Interesting idea, I played mini forest for a while and I can say, people had probably found it annoying with camel to g5/b4. But, how about normal chess, you can scholar's mate someone as well. Or, a rook trap once the bishop leaves g7/b2 where it doesn't protect the pawn. There's even a fool's mate which leads to a mate in 2. There's just some things that we got to accept because we can't deal with the early advantage problem everywhere.

It is very easy to safely get your Camel to g5 if White or b4 if Black at the start of the game. I have already been able to do this twice, presumably against less experienced opponents. This leaves the King trapped, and it can be taken the next turn. While this may not be a problem with experienced players as there are a few ways to counteract this, it is easy for inexperienced players to get baited into not defending the relevant square. This could potentially cause them to dislike the variant as we all know first impressions matter.
