Someone starts a game, then they just vanish, when their position is perfectly playable, in fact better than mine. So I wait a few minutes and then the system starts a count-down to autoresign. The outcome is grossly unfair because if I just let the timer count down, they lose despite being in a perfectly good position. I have no idea why they left. Maybe a phone-call, family crisis, bad internet, who knows. Maybe ratings are important to them; they shouldn't lose their points just because their grandmother called. So I feel obliged to resign, despite the fact that my position wasn't lost. This is grossly unfair on me, because I'm then obliged to lose a game I hadn't lost.
Please can we have a modification so that in the event of the system autoresigning a player, it offers their opponent the opportunity to determine the game as a draw instead?
Why should you resign? It’s not your fault, you shouldn’t lose your points. Sure, they might have a good reason, but again, you should lose points for that. And they might not have a good reason, you just don’t know. What I hate is how it can sit there counting down for 5 minutes before timing out, and I have to sit there and do nothing. Why can’t auto resign kick in more quickly?
I hate this. It's just happened again (here:
