Please Remove My Strikes

Sometime in the last 2 months I got multiple red banner warnings that totally weren't my fault. One of them was for accidentally hitting post before I finished an edit so it was a "duplicate post violation", and the other was 2 or 3 consecutive warnings when I was typing a reply to a post I quoted. I kept editing and editing trying to find what word was triggering it, and it turned out to be in the quote! Nothing I even typed. These should be cleared from my account as it is absurd to have things like that count toward a future mute. I am also tired of having to change Es to 3s and Os to 0s for words that are otherwise benign or are intended for use in a civilized matter. I think I even got a warning once for Google autocorrect changing a word into a different one. Can someone explain how a post with a banned word can make it through the filter just fine, but quoting that post triggers it? Nonsense.

"Can someone explain how a post with a banned word can make it through the filter just fine, but quoting that post triggers it?"

That's because Chess.com either hasn't figured out how to apply the auto filter to the app or they just don't want to. App users are allowed to use banned words and spam more than 6 posts in a row because of this.

It's really sad that if you use the the web site and want to have a conversation about sci-fi author Philip K. Richard (and spell his name correctly) you risk getting a mute.

However it is perfectly acceptable to say:

Go to hell you damn retard douchebag.

What happens is you're zoned in on after having a few mutes, bots keep records your posting, where, if you're fairly new and no mute your posting anything might easily slip through because yet honed in on their behavior in posts.

I think it is a certain number of strikes in a given time period, like 1 week or 90 days, is what triggers mutes. Repeat offenses increase the duration of the mute, but I think its the same number of strikes each time. So you get 3 in X amount of time and get muted for a day. Then you get another 3, get muted for a week. Another 3, a month. This makes sense for normal moderation but not these ridiculous filters. It would also be nice if it left your post in place for you to edit rather than deleting it so you have to retype 2 paragraphs because of 1 word.

agree

It's unfair that because of previous bogus mutes, a real, earned, legitimate mute, ends up being a month instead of a day, because of the previous bogus strikes.

WTFrickenA

indeed

digiteel

i think they think you're plagiarising them

So far I haven’t had trouble with contacting staff and explaining what happened and having mutes lifted. But one issue that nags at me is that the couple of times that this has happened, no one will acknowledged the flawed system. Instead I was met with friendly reminders to be careful because subsequent mutes would be longer. In other words, they had no intentions of removing any strikes.

Then they should increase the minimum number of strikes to get a mute. Instead of 3 make it 5, or 10. Also the increasing duration of them is ridiculous. Instead of going from a day to a week to a month, it should go from 1 hour to 6 hours to a day, or something. It is too extreme.

I agree (this needs to be bumped)

Sargon_Three

Yeah I got a red banner for quoting someone else, too. If it's so bad, the original post should be removed.
