Repeating request to please lock very old threads and do not allow comments in them anymore.

I made this request a long time ago, to closed old threads, a practice that is common on a lot of sites. The reason being that the people active in the original discussion are no longer around and cannot comment back. It also forces people to read those earlier posts from years ago from people who may have passed away or changed in the meantime. 

Please lock older threads. I promise you it's a good idea, it will make the site a better place. I can't deal with seeing old threads from years and years ago from people who were in all types of different situations being brought up again.

LOCK THEM, PLEASE. Please lock them. It's perfectly possible to start a new thread on that subject and refer to that thread if required. If they won't be locked at least provide some sort of reason on why you don't want to lock them.

I don't know how to suggest it to staff. 

There is a Make a Suggestion link in the Help menu. I've suggested it in the past. I don't think I have ever seen staff input on it, but I doubt anything like that will be implemented.
